Teacher Education Programme in Visual Arts/

In my degree project, I want to bring students’ expertise in being students to the surface. I think that if we can involve and bring the students’ ‘out-of-school-knowledge’ into the planning of the education content, maybe the teaching can gain weight and become more engaging and fun for both teachers and students. We can create a climate where we can learn and create knowledge together.
Together we explore the subject. Through an artist book and zine workshop with students in upper-secondary school, I aim to create a space where their voices can be heard. The book becomes a space where you can speak freely and put forward your opinions, thoughts and ideas on your own terms.
The school is based on democratic foundations; the student shall, within the school’s framework, be able to express themselves, be listened to and be taken seriously. How is this done in the school of today? How can we as teachers work with methods that allow for student influence in the education content and above all what are the students’ thoughts about this?

I mitt examensarbete vill jag lyfta och framhäva elevens expertis på att vara just elev. Jag tänker att om vi kan få in elevens röst och ”utanför-skolan-kunskaper” i planeringen av undervisningens innehåll, kanske undervisningen också kan få mer tyngd samt bli engagerande och rolig för såväl lärare som elev. Vi kan skapa ett klimat där vi lär och kunskapar tillsammans.

Tillsammans undersöker vi ämnet. Genom artistbook och zine-workshops med gymnasieelever skapas ett utrymme att göra sin röst hörd. Boken blir ett rum där ordet är fritt att framföra sina åsikter, tankar och idéer på egna villkor.

Skolan har ett demokratiskt uppdrag, eleven ska inom ramen för skolan kunna göra sin röst hörd, bli lyssnad till och tagen på allvar. Hur görs detta i skolan idag? Hur kan en arbeta med metoder för elevinflytande i undervisningens innehåll och framförallt vad tänker eleverna kring detta?
