Teacher Education Programme in Visual Arts/

A picture says more than 1000 words and pictures have different meanings through interpretations. In my degree project, I discuss how practical elements can supplement a theoretical content in teaching. I have explored what happens in a teaching situation when students implement a performance as a way to develop knowledge of the art form. As a part of this degree project, I have created a film. The scenes in the film are selected because they visualize what I take with me in the role of educator, where doing takes place as a knowledge tradition. As part of the study, I have mixed theory with practical elements and analysed the outcomes. The students worked with film as a tool and I therefore chose film as a medium. I believe that the theory increases the understanding of the practical work (doing) and the practice makes the theory easier to understand.

En bild säger mer än 1000 ord och bilder får olika betydelser genom tolkningar. I mitt examensarbete diskuterar jag hur praktiska moment kan komplettera ett teoretiskt ämnesinnehåll i undervisningen. Jag har undersökt vad som händer i en undervisningssituation när elever genomför ett performance som ett sätt att utveckla kunnande om konstformen. I den gestaltande delen av examensarbetet har jag skapat en film. Scenerna i filmen är utvalda för att de berättar om sådant jag tar med mig in i rollen som pedagog, där görandet tar plats som en kunskapstradition. Som en del av undersökningen har jag varvat teori med praktiska inslag och analyserat utfallet. Eleverna arbetade med film som ett redskap och därför valde jag film som medium. Jag anser att teorin ökar förståelsen i det praktiska arbetet (görandet) och praktiken gör teorin enklare att förstå.
