Master/Individual Study Plan in Design

A room where you wait. Sometimes the waiting can feel short. At other times, it seems longer. A wait can evoke different feelings, moments of unease or thoughts about what will come to pass.

In my degree project, I have examined the healthcare waiting room, a place that is often not prioritised. In my investigation to contribute to greater well-being in waiting rooms, I alighted in nature as a phenomenon. I have explored how nature can be used as a tool to contribute to calm and recovery.

The Traces project has resulted in designs that examine materiality, colour and space with a focus on the contrast between the unexpected shapes of nature and the straight lines of the healthcare environment.

Ett rum där du väntar. Stundtals kan väntan kännas kort, vid andra tillfällen upplevs den längre. En väntan kan framkalla olika känslor, stunder av olust eller funderingar om vad som komma skall.

I mitt arbete har jag utforskat väntrummet i vårdmiljö, en plats som ofta inte är prioriterad. I min undersökning för att bidra till större välmående i väntrum landande jag i naturen som fenomen. Jag har undersökt hur naturen kan användas som verktyg för att bidra till lugn och återhämtning.

Projektet Avtryck har resulterat i gestaltningar som undersöker materialitet, färg och rum med fokus på kontrasten mellan naturens oväntade former och vårdmiljöns raka linjer.
