The overarching idea in my degree project is to examine the designer’s role in the circular economy.

The designer’s role is to design and select materials. But I believe that we now also have a very important job in designing products that can be easily dismantled by the consumer so that it is easier for recyclers to recycle the materials. The products should be sustainable and have a long life span so that they are valuable for reuse, because this takes advantage of products that are still whole and whose materials have value. I hope that this project can be helpful in seeing the possibilities and choices available to an industrial designer, but also for the consumers.

We need to find new ways to design and assemble products so that the next generation of consumers can use the products and the materials again.With this in mind, I have made a desk lamp to demonstrate some new options.

Den övergripande idén i mitt examensarbete är att undersöka designerns roll i den cirkulära ekonomin.

Designerns roll är att formge och välja material. Men jag anser att vi numera även har ett mycket viktigt arbete med att designa så att produkterna går att ta isär på ett enkelt sätt för konsumenten, eftersom det ska vara enklare att återvinna materialet för återvinnarna. Produkterna ska vara hållbara och ha en lång livslängd så att de blir värdefulla för återbruket, eftersom det tar tillvara produkter som fortfarande är hela och har värde i sitt material.Jag hoppas att detta projekt kan vara till hjälp för att se de möjligheter och olika val som finns för en industridesigner, men även för konsumenterna.

Vi behöver hitta nya sammansättningar och konstruktioner för produkter så att nästa generation av konsumenter ska kunna använda produkterna och materialen igen.Därför har jag gjort en skrivbordslampa för att visa på några nya alternativ.
