Before We Buy

2/3 of the project Mutual Mutant

When we have value entangled in land, soil and real estate, as well as a housing shortage, it may seem rational to remove buildings that lack a clear function in favour of housing. But when the economy is dealing with land and soil, it is also linked to our bodies and travels in a cycle where economics cannot be separated from ecology. We can connect the gentrification process to a more existential dimension of the affected bodies: the removed human bodies, scattered, working and living someplace else, other bodies moving in, as well as architecture and city planning as an extended common body. Totally destroyed in favour of other buildings. And the soil, like a magic cloak, that lies underneath.
