Master/CRAFT! Ceramics & Glass

With this work, Being, I have chosen to use the specific qualities of glass and water such as transparency, reflection and refraction. I have also chosen to use individuals’ personal mobile phones as the light source in an aim to foster inclusivity and interactivity. Music by Jesper Målsten is used to help create an environment which envelopes the individual.

The aim with my degree project is to remind individuals of the connections we all share with each other and ourselves. I want to engulf the viewer’s senses, creating a safe space which allows the individual an opportunity to be present, ‘get lost’ and experience not only the work but their responses to that experience. I hope this work helps to allow the individual(s) experiencing the work to feel the connection we have to ourselves, each other and the present moment.

Med det här arbetet, <em>Being</em>, har jag valt att använda de särskilda egenskaper som glas och vatten har, som transparens, reflektion och ljusbrytning. Jag använder också personers egna mobiler som ljuskälla i syfte att främja integrering och interaktivitet. Musik av Jesper Målsten används för att skapa en miljö som omsluter personen.

Målet med mitt examensarbete är att påminna om det släktskap vi alla har till varandra och oss själva. Jag vill att betraktarens sinnen uppslukas, och skapa en trygg plats där den enskilde får möjlighet att vara närvarande, “försvinna” och uppleva inte bara arbetet utan dess reaktion på denna upplevelse. Jag hoppas att detta arbete bidrar till att var och en som upplever det känner den koppling vi har till oss själva, varandra och nuet.
